Application of Infrared Heating in Glass Bending

     In the production process of automobile front windshield and self-weight forming of coated glass, the glass needs to be placed in a tempering furnace or a hot bending furnace, heated in a furnace temperature exceeding 600°C, annealed and cooled. Specifically, during production, the corresponding molds are placed in the bending trolley. In the upper/lower section, the operator puts the qualified semi-finished glass that has been pretreated on the mould, and the bending trolley is lifted by the lifting and conveying device. Go to the upper layer of the bending furnace, and go through the preheating section and the bending section in turn. In the preheating section, the glass rises from normal temperature to slightly lower than the glass softening temperature Tf (Tf is generally between 560-580°C). When the temperature is higher than the softening temperature, the glass has basically softened and is in a relatively plastic state. The gravity makes the glass gradually sag and fit around the mold to form a spherical surface, which meets the radian and spherical surface requirements of the final product. Then the glass is annealed and cooled through the annealing and cooling section, the purpose is to minimize the internal stress.

    Our customer's equipment currently uses resistance wire as a heater. During the production and application process, the feedback has the following problems:

  1. Low heating efficiency and high energy consumption;

 

  1. Under high temperature conditions, the service life of the resistance wire is short and the replacement is frequent, which affects production and product quality (when a heating wire in a heating furnace is damaged, the heating effect of the entire heating furnace is greatly affected), and the labor cost is very high. big;

 

  1. The resistance coil is a linear structure, which cannot build a uniform heating plane, the heating uniformity is not good, and the product quality is affected;

 

  1. If the temperature is too high, the wavelength of the ray radiated by the resistance coil does not match the wavelength suitable for absorption by the glass, and the efficiency is low.

    In response to the above problems, we provide heater arrangement schemes and transformation schemes according to customer needs, and select ceramic heaters suitable for their applications - 1000W. Whether it is installation or product performance, the product can meet customer needs. The customer also accepted our recommendation and decisively used TRIMBLE ceramic infrared heaters to replace the resistance coils. In subsequent production and use, the feedback of using TRIMBLE ceramic far-infrared heaters has the following advantages:

  1. The wavelength range of the radiated rays is very suitable for the wavelength range of infrared absorption of glass, the heating process is efficient, and it is more energy-saving than resistance coils;

 

  1. The plate structure reduces the surface average power density, reduces the space temperature of the furnace body, and prolongs the service life of the heater;

 

  1. The plate structure can be assembled with a surface structure consistent with the glass surface, which is conducive to uniform heating;

 

     4.The temperature zone can be set according to the actual use needs, and even the temperature of individual heaters can be controlled to achieve precise temperature control.
